  15. <p>     DIED. DON DRYSDALE, 56, Hall of Fame baseball pitcher; from
  16. a heart attack; in Montreal, Canada. During his 14 major league
  17. seasons with the Dodgers, in both their Brooklyn and Los Angeles
  18. incarnations, "Big D" and his fastball terrorized opponents
  19. for more than strictly competitive reasons--he set a 20th
  20. century National League record by hitting 154 batters. Drysdale
  21. played in five World Series, and in 1968 pitched 58 scoreless
  22. innings, a record that stood for two decades.
